PATIALA, April 15 -- A day after Shiromani Akali Dal (Taksali) withdrew the nomination of Gen (Retd) JJ Singh from Khadoor Sahib constituency in favour of Punjab Democratic Alliance (PDA) candidate Bibi Paramjeet Kaur Khalra, Singh announced on Monday that he would support the PDA candidate.
Speaking to media persons, the former Army chief said that he met with SAD (Taksali) chief Ranjit Singh Brahmpura a day before and offered to step down to attain the collective objective of both parties (Taksalis and PDA) to take on Congress and SAD-BJP. "I am not after positions and want to work for welfare of Punjab. I will support Bibi Khalra and even campaign for her," he said.
