CHANDIGARH, April 23 -- HARYANA Government has notified May 12, 2019 (Sunday), the day of poll for general election to Lok Sabha of Haryana, as paid holiday for its employees who are enrolled as voters in the state, to enable them exercise their franchise.
Such employees can avail special casual leave, paid, on that day.
While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that the holiday would be observed under section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881 and section 135-B of Representation of the People Act in all Haryana government offices, boards and corporations and educational institutes in respect of those staff of the state government who are registered voters in Haryana.
