Jammu Tawi, June 18 -- The security grid in and around the Jammu-based Shri Amarnath Yatra base camp is being augmented with the additional installation of watchtowers and a dedicated check post as the 38-day-long annual pilgrimage is starting from July 3.

The first batch of Shri Amarnath Yatra pilgrims will leave from Jammu on July 2 amid tight security arrangements.

"All security-related measures are being taken for the safety of the pilgrims at the base camp atBhagwati Nagar," a police official told news agency.

He said that additional watchtowers are being installed around the base camp as well as in its vicinity to keep a close watch on any suspicious or unwanted movement 24/7.
