India, Aug. 22 -- In a major security lapse, a man on Friday morning scaled a tree and climbed over the 20-metre-high wall of Parliament House before reaching the Garuda Gate of the new Parliament building, officials said.
The incident occurred around 6:30 am when the intruder entered from the Rail Bhavan side and jumped over the wall, which is about 15 metres away from the gate. He was immediately caught by security personnel and is being interrogated.
The breach comes a day after the monsoon session of Parliament ended amid repeated disruptions.
