New Delhi, Aug. 29 -- The Supreme Court today agreed to hear on September 1 a batch of petitions concerning the Bihar Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls, specifically applications seeking an extension of the deadline for filing claims and objections.
A Bench comprising Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi ordered the matter to be listed on Monday following an urgent mentioning by Advocate Prashant Bhushan.
He submitted that the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and several other political parties had approached the Court seeking an extension of the September 1 deadline for filing claims and objections to the draft voters' list.
