Punjab, Sept. 2 -- Punjab Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Harmeet Singh Dhillon Pathanmajra, arrested on rape and cheating charges, escaped police custody in Karnal on Tuesday after allegedly opening fire at officers, sources told news agency.

The Sanour MLA was being taken to a local station when he and his aides fired shots, injuring a policeman, sources said. Amid the chaos, Pathanmajra allegedly drove a vehicle over another officer before fleeing in a Scorpio SUV. A Fortuner used during the escape has since been seized. A manhunt has been launched to track him down.



Pathanmajra was arrested following an FIR filed by a Zirakpur woman, who accused him of misrepresenting himself as divorced before entering into a relationship with her. Sh...
