New Delhi, Jan. 29 -- President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday termed the stampede at the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj as "extremely sad" and expressed grief over the loss of lives of the devotees.

In a post on X, Murmu said, "The stampede incident at Prayagraj Maha Kumbh is extremely sad. I express my condolences to the families of the injured devotees and pray to God that all the injured devotees recover soon".

Modi termed the incident as extremely sad and wished the speedy recovery of all the injured people.
