India, Jan. 28 -- President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday said the government's sound policies and initiatives have resulted in a rapid increase in agricultural production across the country, citing record output of foodgrains and horticulture crops.
Addressing the joint sitting of both Houses of Parliament on the first day of the Budget Session, the President said focused efforts were also underway to boost production in crops where the agriculture sector had lagged. She noted that national missions on edible oils, oilseeds and pulses aim to reduce imports and move the country towards self-reliance in these sectors.
