India, Jan. 21 -- The Centre has amended the Central Motor Vehicles Rules to strengthen compliance with user fee payments at toll plazas on National Highways, aiming to curb evasion and improve the efficiency of electronic toll collection systems.

The Central Motor Vehicles (Second Amendment) Rules, 2026, notified by the government, seek to enhance user fee compliance, streamline Electronic Toll Collection (ETC), and discourage non-payment of toll charges on National Highways.
