Jammu Tawi, April 1 -- Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday announced that the Naxal problem in India has now been significantly contained, with only six districts remaining most affected by left-wing extremism, down from 12 in the previous review. Shah emphasized that the Modi government is committed to eradicating Naxalism completely by March 31, 2026, and building a "Sashakt, Surakshit, and Samriddh Bharat."

In a post on the microblogging site X, Shah stated, "Taking a giant stride towards building a Naxal-free Bharat, today our nation achieved a new milestone by significantly reducing the number of districts most affected by left-wing extremism to just 6 from 12."
