India, Jan. 16 -- A mild earthquake measuring 3.0 on the Richter scale struck Baramulla district on Thursday evening, triggering tremors in adjoining areas, officials said

According to official data, the tremor occurred at 7:10 pm with its epicentre located 19 km west-northwest of Srinagar.

The earthquake measured shallow in nature with a depth of 5 km, occurring at coordinates 34.13N latitude and 74.59E longitude. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage to property.
