New Delhi, June 26 -- Union Home Minister Amit Shah today emphasized the importance of language in preserving a nation's identity and cultural heritage, stating that it is not merely a means of communication, but the very soul of a nation.

"Our roots, traditions, history, and culture cannot progress without language. Just as it is important to keep languages alive, it is equally important to enrich them," Shah said while speaking at the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Rajbhasha Department at Bharat Mandapam here.
