New Delhi, Feb. 8 -- Arvind Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi former Chief Minister, has lost his re-election bid from the New Delhi Assembly constituency, ending his decade-long hold on the seat. Kejriwal, who has represented New Delhi since 2013, had previously defeated Congress stalwart Sheila Dikshit in what marked the start of AAP's rule in the capital.
In a separate development, AAP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia conceded defeat from his constituency, Jangpura. After nine rounds of counting, Sisodia was trailing by 572 votes. He expressed hope that the winning candidate would prioritize the welfare and progress of the people in the area.
