Jammu Tawi, March 25 -- A massive search operation to track down a group of infiltrating terrorists entered its third day in a forested area in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, officials reported. The operation, spearheaded by Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, was launched on Sunday evening in the Hiranagar sector after an encounter between security forces and terrorists hiding in a nursery.

As security forces advanced further into the cordoned-off area on Tuesday morning, a burst of gunfire was heard. Officials clarified that this was speculative firing by the troops after spotting suspicious movement in the area.
