Srinagar, April 10 -- As part of its ongoing crackdown on separatist elements, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday conducted searches in Srinagar and Pulwama districts in connection with a case registered under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) linked to banned organisations.
The searches were conducted at the houses belonging to members of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat members Bashir Ahmed Bhat alias Peer Saifullaha and Mohammad Ashraf Laya. Tehreek-e-Hurriyat was co-founded by late Syed Ali Geelani.
Police said the searches were conducted as part of the efforts to dismantle the remnants of the secessionist and terrorist ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir.
