Jammu, July 9 -- A prisoner was injured during a scuffle between inmates and security personnel inside Poonch district jail in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday, officials said.
The clash occurred when a group of undertrial prisoners from Kashmir demanded a separate barrack for themselves. Jail authorities attempted to persuade them to return to their designated barracks, citing the absence of any such provision. Tensions escalated during the exchange, leading to a brief scuffle.
Adil Hamid Dar, an undertrial from Shopian in south Kashmir, sustained injuries after reportedly falling while security personnel were trying to restore order. Dar is currently facing trial under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), officials added.
