Jammu, July 10 -- A goods train travelling from Jammu to Punjab derailed on Thursday morning near Lakhanpur in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district after a landslide caused by heavy rainfall blocked the tracks, officials said.

The derailment occurred when debris from the landslide fell onto the railway line, disrupting train movement in the region. "Due to the rain, a landslide occurred, and all the debris came onto the track. As a result, the train got derailed," said Ram Bahadur, a railway trackman present at the site.

Railway officials responded swiftly, reaching the location to begin debris clearance and restore rail operations on the affected route. Efforts are underway to resume normal train services.
