Jammu Tawi, March 9 -- The 2nd edition of the 5th Khelo India Winter Games (KIWG) began at the picturesque tourist destination of Gulmarg in north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Sunday.

More than 550 athletes from across the country are participating in the four-day mega event.

On the first day of the event, ski mountaineering, alpine skiing, snowboarding, and 5 to 10 kilometre Nordic skiing competitions are being held at the Kongdori peak and at the golf club.

There is a lot of enthusiasm among the athletes who have come from all over the country.

A medal ceremony will be held at 4 pm for the winners in the first day's competitions.
