Srinagar, Oct. 31 -- The Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department has acknowledged a shortage of specialists within the department.
Responding to a question by MLA Sunil Kumar Sharma, Health Minister Sakeena Itoo said in a written reply that there is currently a deficit of specialists.
She, however, assured that once specialists are available, the posts of Anaesthesiologist and Gynaecologist at SDH Paddar will be prioritised for filling.
The minister said that instructions have been issued to the Chief Medical Officer, Kishtwar, to ensure that specialist services are provided at SDH Paddar on a rotational basis until suitable arrangements, either regular or academic, are put in place by the competent authorities.
