Jammu, May 14 -- As life limps back to normalcy, all educational institutions reopened on Wednesday in non-border areas, including Udhampur and parts of Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials here said that schools and colleges reopened nearly one week after they were closed in view of the tension between India and Pakistan along the Line of Control and the International Border.
"As the situation is normal, the schools and colleges in the non-border areas have reopened this morning," said an official. Educational institutions have reopened in the entire Udhampur district but in parts of Kathua district that do not share borders.
Many parts of Kathua are located along the International Border.
