Jammu, June 5 -- Army has launched "Operation Shiva," a comprehensive security initiative to provide fool proof security to the 38-day Amarnath Yatra, slated to commence from July 3.
This annual pilgrimage, one of the most revered spiritual journeys, draws thousands of devotees to the sacred Amarnath Cave Shrine in Jammu and Kashmir, located at an altitude of 3,888 meters.
Officials said that in light of recent security challenges, including the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed 26 lives, the Indian Army, in coordination with Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), has deployed robust measures to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
