India, July 16 -- Despite downpour, a fresh batch of 6064 Shri Amarnath Yatra pilgrims left for the holy cave shrine in South Kashmir Himalayas here from Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar base camp.

Officials said that the pilgrims left from the Jammu base camp in a fleet of 234 vehicles.

"A fresh batch of 6064 pilgrims this morning left for Shri Amarnath Yatra cave shrine in Kashmir from Jammu base camp amid tight security arrangements," they added.

They said that 3593 pilgrims left for Pahalgam and 2471 for Baltal in a fleet of 234 vehicles comprising Light Motor Vehicles and Heavy Motor Vehicles.
