Jammu Tawi, May 17 -- TheJammu and Kashmirgovernment has started assessing the damage to civilian properties caused during the recent four-day exchange of fire betweenIndiaandPakistan.
Notably, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who visited the border town ofUriin Baramulla district, said the assessment of damage to the houses is underway. He said that while there has been no loss of life in Uri, many homes and businesses were damaged due to shelling from across the border. "Compensation will be given after deputy commissioners complete the damage assessment," he said.
In Poonch, which witnessed the worst shelling, the district administration has launched a special campaign called "Report to Support".
