Jammu, April 23 -- A man identified as Mushtaq Ali alias Bacchu Don, wanted in multiple criminal cases, died after sustaining injuries during an escape attempt while in police custody. The incident occurred as a police team was returning from Amritsar to Jammu after arresting the accused, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said on Tuesday.
According to an official statement, a police party fromJammuwas sent to Baba Batala inAmritsar,Punjab, on Monday to apprehend two wanted individuals with the assistance of the Punjab Police. The two accused, including Mushtaq Ali, son of Mohammad Sadiq and resident of Kikri Morh, Bari Brahmana, were arrested. Both were wanted in multiple criminal cases within the Jammu-Kathua-Samba range.
