Nigeria, Jan. 13 -- A family has been thrown into mourning following the death of a woman, Aishatu Umar, who allegedly suffered months of excruciating pain after a pair of scissors was reportedly left inside her body during a surgical procedure at the Abubakar Imam Urology Center in Kano State.

Aishatu Umar reportedly passed away at about 1:00 a.m. on Monday, after enduring severe abdominal pain for several months following a surgery carried out in September 2025.

The incident was brought to public attention by a commentator, Abubakar Mohammed, who disclosed the matter in a Facebook post, identifying the deceased as his sister-in-law. He said Aishatu is survived by her husband and five children.
