Nigeria, Oct. 31 -- In a statement on Friday, ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi said the move could worsen inflation, deepen public suffering, and trigger mass resistance.
Describing the policy as "insensitive and ill-timed," the party argued that while encouraging local refining is essential, it must not come at the expense of already-burdened citizens.
"From all indications, this new levy could push petrol beyond N1,000 per litre. If this happens, families, commuters, transporters, farmers, and small businesses already struggling to survive will be crushed." Abdullahi lamented.
The opposition party urged the government to rethink its approach and prioritise policies that ease hardship rather than escalate it.
