Nigeria, Nov. 13 -- The African Union Commission chair has rejected claims of a Christian genocide in Nigeria, countering assertions made by former US President Donald Trump.
Speaking at a press conference in New York on Wednesday, Nov. 12, Mahamoud Ali Youssouf said, "There is no genocide in northern Nigeria. The complexity of the situation should make us think twice before making such statements."
Recall that Trump had previously warned that Christians in Nigeria were facing an "existential threat" from jihadists, even threatening possible armed intervention, claiming radical Islamists were killing "Christians in very large numbers."
