Nigeria, May 20 -- The Nigerian Army, along with the Hybrid Force and the Civilian Joint Task Force, made significant progress in their counter-terrorism operations in the North East, On Saturday.

Acting on reliable intelligence regarding terrorist movements, the troops set up an ambush in the Lawanti area. In the ensuing firefight, they neutralized six terrorists.

After winning the gun battle, the troops recovered a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) and 40 rounds of 7.62 x 51 mm belted ammunition.

In another operation, the troops, following actionable intelligence, set up an ambush at a known terrorist crossing point near Shetimari, Sabon-Gari, and the Amarwa Bulamari Exchange Point in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
