Nigeria, March 9 -- Nigeria's President Bola Ahmed Tinubu took action after gunmen kidnapped over 250 pupils from a school in the country's northwest.

This was one of the largest mass abductions in three years. The attack in Kaduna state was the second mass kidnapping in a week in Nigeria, where armed criminal gangs on motorbikes often target villages, schools, and highways to demand ransom payments.

Local government officials confirmed the kidnapping but were still determining the exact number of abducted children.
