Nigeria, March 10 -- The Niger State Government is set to transition several key facilities, including the Government House, IBB Specialist Hospital, Water Board, and the State Secretariat, off the national power grid.

The State Governor announced this on Sunday during a meeting with the management of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), Minna Area Office, at the Government House in Minna.

He stated that the government plans to establish a 200-megawatt solar park and other initiatives to provide a reliable alternative power supply.

He also noted that all streetlights in the state have already been converted to solar, and efforts are underway to install 25-megawatt mini-grids across all local government areas.
