Nigeria, Dec. 20 -- Suspected ISWAP fighters attacked the Battalion Headquarters in Buratai, Borno State, on Friday night, firing mortar shells at the military base. Sources said the attackers used drones to monitor the area and guide the mortar fire in order to improve accuracy. During the incident, light exchanges of gunfire occurred between the terrorists and Nigerian troops.

After the attack, soldiers discovered rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) shells and spent bullet casings around the base, indicating the intensity of the assault. However, the troops were able to shut down the terrorists' drone, preventing further coordination of the attack. No official statement has yet been released on casualties or damage.
