NIGERIA, Dec. 9 -- A Jos Magistrates' Court on Tuesday handed a two-year prison sentence to a 27-year-old miner, Ibrahim Kamilu, after he admitted to charges of criminal breach of trust and cheating.

Magistrate Irene Pati delivered a summary judgment following Kamilu's guilty plea to the two-count charge. She offered him an option of a N30,000 fine or one-year imprisonment for the breach of trust offence.

For the cheating charge, Pati imposed an additional N20,000 fine or another one-year jail term, depending on the convict's choice.

The court further directed Kamilu to pay N570,000 in compensation to the victim.
