Nigeria, Feb. 8 -- The Kogi State Government has ordered the immediate but temporary closure of specific markets and motor parks across seven Local Government Areas in Kogi West Senatorial District.
The move is part of a major security offensive designed to disrupt and root out terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements operating in the state.
The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, announced the directive in a press statement issued on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
According to the statement, the closures are a strategic measure to support ongoing clearance operations being conducted in collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser and state security heads.
