Nigeria, July 31 -- President Bola Tinubu has approved a one-year extension for the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, allowing him to stay in office until August 2026.
Originally due to retire in August 2025, Adeniyi's extended tenure aims to consolidate key reforms, including Customs modernisation, the National Single Window project, and Nigeria's commitments under the AfCFTA protocol.
Announcing the extension in a statement on Tuesday, Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga said Tinubu applauds Adeniyi's "steadfast leadership and commitment to service," noting that the move will boost the Customs Service's core goals trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security.
