Nigeria, July 24 -- A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the Inspector-General of Police and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to pay N10 million in damages for violating the rights of peaceful #EndSARS protesters.
Justice M. Kakaki, who delivered the ruling on Thursday, held that the protesters were unlawfully harassed during the fourth anniversary of the #EndSARS memorial procession.
The suit was filed by 23 applicants including Hassan Taiwo Soweto, Uadiale Kingsley, and others, with support from rights groups like the Education Rights Campaign (ERC), Take It Back Movement (TIB), and Campaign for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR).
