Nigeria, Jan. 12 -- The police in Anambra State have arrested a 26-year-old man, identified as Anikpe Valentine Chibuike, for the alleged murder of his 35-year-old girlfriend, Ogechukwu Mmadubugwu, a single mother, in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The suspect allegedly killed his girlfriend following suspicions of infidelity.

Confirming the incident in a statement issued on Sunday, the spokesman of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the suspect was arrested by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, on 7 January 2026 in connection with the crime.
