Nigeria, July 24 -- Suspected Fulani herdsmen have launched a fresh attack on Uikpam community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

Security Source confirmed the incident to The News Chronicle via phone, said the attack occurred on Thursday morning when armed herders invaded the area and ambushed unsuspecting farmers.

One of the victims, Gabriel Vandefan, was killed while harvesting millet on his farm. According to reports, the attackers beheaded him and severed one of his hands, which they took away. Jimin Geoffrey, a former media aide to ex-Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, confirmed the incident.
