Nigeria, Dec. 19 -- As the festive rush gathers steam, the Chairman of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Kwara State chapter, Comrade Abdulrahman Onikijipa, has cautioned residents to put safety above speed and savings while travelling.
Speaking on Thursday in Ilorin, Onikijipa advised travellers to patronise only recognised motor parks, warning that cutting corners in the name of cheap transport could be a journey into danger.
He noted that many commuters are often tempted by roadside drivers because of lower fares, but stressed that such "cheap alternatives" could come at a costly price.
