Nigeria, Dec. 23 -- A Magistrates' Court sitting at Iyaganku, Ibadan, on Tuesday sent a 30-year-old man, Olatunde Busayo, behind bars for six months after a dispute over food spiralled into violence.

Busayo was docked on a one-count charge of assault and wasted no time admitting guilt when the charge was read to him.

Following his plea, the presiding Magistrate, Mrs Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair, found him guilty and slammed a six-month jail term on him, with no option of fine-drawing a firm line in the sand against violent conduct.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp. Olagoke Adegbenro, told the court that the incident occurred on Dec. 7 at about 11:00 a.m. at Olunloyo Estate, New GRA, Ibadan.
