Nigeria, Nov. 9 -- Saturday's Governorship Election in Anambra State was characterized by vote-buying and malfunctioning of the Bi-Modal voter Accreditation System, BVAS and incidents of vote-buying across polling units in the state.

The News Chronicles correspondent in Anambra State reports that political parties bought votes for as much as N12,000 in some polling centres, in an election that witnessed improved turnout, unlike the experience during the 2021 Governorship Election.

It was observed that in the majority of the polling units, adhoc staff recruited by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC for the exercise arrived early at the polling centres.
