Nigeria, Nov. 3 -- Tension flared at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretariat in Abuja on Monday as supporters of the party's North Central Vice Chairman, Mohammed Abdulrahman, stormed Wadata Plaza, demanding the immediate removal of the Umar Damagum-led National Working Committee (NWC).
Chanting solidarity songs and wielding placards, the protesters accused Damagum of mismanaging the opposition party and vowed to "reclaim the PDP's soul."
"We are here to take back our party. The era of impunity and manipulation is over," one protester said.
The protest marks a fresh escalation in the PDP's deepening leadership crisis.
