Nigeria, Dec. 18 -- The newly elected Vice Chairman of Biu Local Government Area in Borno State, Alhaji Saidu, has been abducted along with two councillors representing Zarawuyaku and Miringa wards.
The incident reportedly happened on Wednesday evening along the Kamuya village-Buni Yadi road.
The victims were travelling from Biu to Maiduguri when they were intercepted by suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists.
Also abducted during the attack were some unidentified passengers who were travelling in a Hisbah vehicle from Potiskum in Yobe State to Biu.
Sources confirmed that one of the abducted councillors is a former Vice Chairman of Biu Local Government Area.
