Nigeria, May 7 -- A member of the Nigerian House of Representatives has suggested employing foreign mercenaries to address the escalating insecurity in the country.

Ahmed Jaha, representing Borno State, argued that Nigeria's security forces have been ineffective in combating the challenges.

Jaha, who represents Chibok, Gwoza, Danbuwa made the call on Tuesday, May 7,2024 while reacting to a motion moved by Obinna Ginger.

Jaha highlighted the success of foreign mercenaries in almost eradicating Boko Haram during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The mercenaries almost wiped out the Boko Haram insurgents during Jonathan's administration but Buhari sent them out of the country," he said.
