Nine compound dogs fought fiercely over meat they had looted
from a neighboring village. Led by a dog whose name was Tsotsi,
they had invaded a homestead that had just slaughtered its old bull
the previous day, and seized every part of the animal they could lay
their predatory paws upon. Upon arriving back safely in the compound,
Tsotsi, whose name literally translates to Thief or Gangster, had seen it fit
to hog the entire body except for some insides. "As your successful, kind leader,
my share is simply the frame of the bull, the kidneys, the heart and the tongue, the rest
