Nigeria, Nov. 2 -- Residents in some parts of Kano State are living in fear following repeated bandit attacks that have killed at least three people and led to many kidnappings in the past week.
The attacks were reported in Shanono, Bagwai, and Tsanyawa Local Government Areas, despite the presence of armed security forces in the region.
Speaking to journalists on Saturday, Mustapha Abubakar, the District Head of Faruruwa in Shanono, said the situation has worsened in recent days.
"Over the last three days, several people have been killed and many young boys and girls have been kidnapped," he said. He explained that the bandits often come from neighbouring Katsina State, entering through bush paths and avoiding security checkpoints.
