Nigeria, July 12 -- Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, has accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of picking Vice President Kashim Shettima behind his back-despite what he described as a prior understanding.

In an interview on Channels Television's Insight Sources monitored by The News Chronicle, Lawal criticized the controversial Muslim-Muslim ticket that propelled Tinubu to power, calling it a misstep that betrayed trust and national unity.

Turning his focus to 2027, Lawal threw his weight behind the emerging opposition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying the coalition is determined to put national interest first.
