Nigeria, July 29 -- The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is gearing up for a major political shake-up in Nigeria's South-East, with two serving governors reportedly preparing to defect to the party.
The development was revealed in a statement by the ADC National Vice Chairman (South East), Chilos Godsent, who said high-level consultations are ongoing and that the governors' defection will be made public soon.
"This is part of our strategic push to take over the South-East ahead of the 2027 general elections," Godsent stated.
The ADC also claims that several sitting lawmakers both in the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly are in talks to join the party.
