Dhaka, Dec. 30 -- Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam on Monday urged field-level officers to ensure law and order at all costs, placing the highest priority on the upcoming national election.

Speaking at the monthly crime review meeting at Police Headquarters, the IGP stressed that any election-related disturbances must be met with immediate and strict legal action.

"Pre-election law and order is of paramount importance. The visible presence of police must be increased through regular patrols and enhanced searches at check-posts," he said, adding that anyone obstructing lawful police duties must be arrested and presented before the court.
