Dhaka, Sept. 21 -- Chinese President Xi Jinping has said China and the United States can achieve mutual success and shared prosperity if both sides work together in the spirit of respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation.

Xi made the remarks during a phone conversation with U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday, according to Chinese state news agency Xinhua.

The two leaders held candid and constructive discussions on bilateral ties and global issues, providing strategic guidance for the future development of relations.Recalling that China and the U.S. were allies during World War II, Xi said the Chinese people would never forget America's support in the fight against Japanese aggression.
