Dhaka, Nov. 9 -- It is a matter of great joy that Khulna, a major district of the southern agrarian economy, has become anthrax-free. The Department of Livestock has been struggling with lumpy screen disease for a year. The government has repeatedly warned about diseased animals.
Farmers could not sell hairless cows in the market. To keep milk and meat production normal, the department provided LSD vaccine across the district last month. Out of 507,000 cows in the district, 3,040 were vaccinated. The incidence is only 0.6 percent.
